Connect Gmail to Bridge: email context in Briefs, drafts out
Connecting Gmail lets Bridge read the email threads you can access and show recent touchpoints with a meeting's participants in its Brief. The Assistant can then draft Gmail emails before, during and after a meeting. Agents and workflow plans can use Gmail for post-meeting follow-ups, with steps you approve, revise or skip.
What the Gmail connection does
The connection works in two directions. Bridge reads email context in, and it drafts or sends email out on your behalf.
| Direction | What happens | Where you see it |
|---|---|---|
| Email in | Bridge reads recent email threads with the people you're meeting | The Brief's Activity tab and the context in its Preparation tab |
| Drafts out | The Assistant drafts emails from the meeting's context | Preset Gmail actions in the Assistant, before, during and after the call |
| Actions out | Agents and workflow plans run Gmail steps, such as replying to a thread with a summary and next steps | Agent runs and Workflow Plan cards in the Assistant |
Before you connect
- Use the Gmail account that holds your client and team threads. Bridge reaches only the messages and threads that account can access.
- Connect a Google or Outlook calendar too. Briefs appear automatically once a calendar is connected, and Briefs are where Gmail context shows up.
- Agents, agentic workflows and workflow plans need a paid Bridge plan.
- Read Google's consent screen when you sign in. It lists what the app is asking to access.
Connect Gmail
Gmail is connected once for your account. Each agent then decides separately whether it may use it.
- Open Connectors from the workspace menu, or go to Account settings → Integrations.
- Choose the Communication category, then Gmail.
- Follow the connect dialog and sign in with Google.
- To let an agent use Gmail, open the agent's Tools step and select Gmail under Connectors. Unconnected apps appear disabled there.
- To stop syncing, disconnect from the same Gmail card.
Email context in meeting Briefs
Open an upcoming meeting from Home or Meetings → Upcoming. The Activity tab lists recent touchpoints with the meeting's participants, across past meetings and emails. Email touchpoints there come from Gmail only.
The Preparation tab also draws context from connected tools. For example, before a renewal call, Bridge can summarize your recent emails with the client. Check that summary against the threads it came from before you rely on it.
Gmail actions in the Assistant, by stage
Select Gmail in the Assistant and it offers a preset action that fits where you are. You can ignore the preset and ask for something else.
| Where you open the Assistant | Preset Gmail action |
|---|---|
| An upcoming meeting's Brief | Draft a pre-meeting email with the agenda and open questions |
| A live meeting | Draft a mid-meeting email with the key points and decisions so far |
| A completed meeting's recap | Draft a follow-up email from the recap |
| Home or the workspace Assistant | A discovery conversation that lists what you can do with Gmail and asks what you need |
Gmail steps in workflow plans and agents
On a completed meeting, select Plan and execute next steps above the Assistant input. Bridge proposes a Workflow Plan from the recap, transcript and action items. Gmail can appear among the agent steps, next to the steps left for you.
Each agent step moves from proposed to executing to done. Before it runs, you choose what happens:
- Approve: confirm the step, then it executes.
- Revise: change what the agent does before it runs.
- Skip: leave the step out.
- Activate: run that step now, or use Activate Plan to run every agent step.
Example: one client meeting, start to finish
This is an illustrative run, not a customer story. A consultant has a project check-in with a client on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the Brief's Activity tab shows last week's email thread about a delayed deliverable. The consultant drafts a pre-meeting email listing that delay as an open question. After the call, a Workflow Plan proposes a Gmail reply on that thread with the summary and next steps. The consultant revises one date, then approves it.
Limits and troubleshooting
- A workflow step marked needs connection means Gmail isn't linked yet. Select Connect, then approve or activate the step.
- An agent can't use Gmail until Gmail is selected in its Tools step.
- No email touchpoints in a Brief? Check that Gmail is connected and that the account has threads with those participants.
- Sending is visible to recipients. Review drafts and recipients before you let an agent send.
- You can review or remove Bridge's access from your Google Account's third-party connections at any time.
- Still stuck? Email help@meetonbridge.com with the meeting and what you expected to see.
