Connect Slack to Bridge: meeting context in, updates out

Connecting Slack lets Bridge read the Slack messages you can access for meeting briefs, and post meeting updates and summaries to channels for you. Agents can use Slack too. Slack Huddles are a separate matter: you capture them with the Bridge desktop app for Mac, not through the Slack connection.

What the Slack connection does

The connection works in three directions. Decide which you want before you connect, so you can check each one afterwards.

UseWhat happensExample
Context inBridge reads recent Slack messages and channels you can accessA meeting brief surfaces a relevant thread from the project channel
Updates outBridge posts meeting updates or summaries to Slack for youAfter a meeting, the summary goes to the team channel
AgentsAgents can summarize a channel or post an updateA scheduled agent posts a daily update about that day's meetings

Connect it

In Bridge, open Account settings, go to your integrations and choose Slack from the Communication list. Follow its connect dialog to authorize your Slack workspace.

Bridge respects the permissions you already have in Slack. Agents and automations only reach channels, messages and threads you can access.

Where Slack shows up in your meetings

The Assistant offers preset Slack actions that match where you are:

  • Before a meeting: share preparation notes and context in Slack.
  • During a meeting: post a live update on the discussion.
  • After a meeting: share a summary in a channel from the recap's Assistant.
  • From a workflow plan: a Slack step can run once you approve or activate it.

Example: a launch check-in summary

A launch check-in ends with two decisions and one open question. Open the recap's Assistant and ask it to draft a summary for #launch in the chat first.

Read the draft as someone who wasn't there. Does it name owners and dates? Does it say the pricing question is still open, rather than implying it's settled? Ask for corrections, then ask the Assistant to post it.

Capturing Slack Huddles

Huddles are Slack's audio and video conversations, started from any channel or direct message. Bridge Agent can't join them; it joins only Zoom, Google Meet and Microsoft Teams.

To capture a Huddle, record it bot-free with the Bridge desktop app for Mac. That works separately from the Slack workspace connection, so you don't need to connect Slack first. Let the people in the Huddle know you're recording.

Disconnecting and fixing problems

  • To stop Bridge using Slack, open the Slack card in your integrations and choose Disconnect.
  • A workflow-plan step marked "needs connection" means Slack isn't connected yet. Connect it, then approve or activate the step.
  • If Bridge can't see a channel, check your own access to it in Slack. Bridge only reaches what you can access.
  • If Bridge Agent won't join a Huddle, that's expected. Record Huddles with the Mac desktop app instead.

Stay in control of what gets posted

Posting to a channel is visible to everyone in it. Choose channels whose members should see the meeting's content, and have the Assistant draft in the chat before it posts.

For multi-step follow-up, use a workflow plan. You can approve, revise or skip each Slack step before it runs. Agents and agentic workflows need a paid plan.
